chrysalis

She only has
to close her eyes
to feel it all
again…

Dank.
Stifling.
Cramped.
Heavy.
Yesterday.

She only has
to close her eyes
to feel it all
again…

The last piercing
ray of light
as she shied away
and shut it out completely
for the moment.

She only has
to close her eyes
to feel it all
again…

Wound up in the golden crust
of her private sticky mess,
shrinking back,
drinking the sap
of her own mushy core.

She only has
to close her eyes
to feel it all
again…

To marvel in flight
at another golden crust
hanging
by a single thread
of faith...

where another one
begins to shed
her once hairy legs
and grow her own
resplendent gossamer wings.
