Regina

She hears the heavens
in all its majesty
but she does not see God.
She cannot.

She, as the holy men say
cannot receive the graces
intended
for God's beloved children.

Her cherubim-eyes
will never shed tears.
Her angelic giggles
will never be heard

for God's errant,
but beloved children
have denied her
her flesh

and the righteous
can do no more
than name her a stone
on sanctified grounds

where her memory sits
guarded by sad marble cherubs.
Forlorn
but not forgotten.
